about-main

Hi!  My name is Anne A. Forrest, and I am a Psychotherapist and Self-Esteem Coach.  In my business I offer the services of individual therapy and self-esteem workshops and coaching.  I strongly believe that everyone can have better self-esteem, and that we all deserve this.  Feeling good about ourselves is our birthright. My mission in life is to help people with poor self-esteem—and particularly people with trauma histories, addictions, or eating disorders—to heal their lives.

I have this mission for several reasons.  One is that in every setting where I have worked—which includes chemical dependency rehabs, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape, Persad Center, crisis centers, mental health centers, and private practice—the one factor I have seen common to almost every person in counseling is low self-esteem.  Also, I myself have struggled with extremely poor self-esteem, due to growing up with trauma, and the subsequent addictions and eating disorder I developed to cope with it.  So I know first-hand about how horrible low self-esteem can be.  I created the Healing Activities to help myself recover, and then used them to great success with clients and friends.  The result is the Loving Me Workshops, my series of workshops for increasing self-esteem.

A little bit about my education and training—I have a Master’s degree in Community Counseling Services from Duquesne University (1990), and I completed the Gestalt Training Program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland.  (My Bachelor’s degree is in Theatre!)  I have also completed oodles of training in working with trauma and addictions, and also in working with self-esteem and eating disorders.  I personally have dealt with these issues, and so I truly understand them.  I have done a great deal of work on myself.   I continue to grow, both as a person and as a therapist.

I am married to a wonderful man and have a wonderful daughter.  I also have a hyper little dog.  I enjoy nature and theater and guitar, and arts and crafts.  I love to write.  And I love to do therapy and workshops.

I would love to meet you, either in person or online, and find out what you treasure and what is important to you!
